When people think of wipers, they usually believe they’re only for clearing rain or dust.
But in fact, wipers have a few “hidden functions” that can help you even when they’re not in use!
1. Estimating Wheel Position
When parking or passing obstacles, your wipers can serve as a visual reference.
For example, if the raised point of the left wiper aligns with an obstacle on the ground,it means your left wheel can safely pass. The same logic applies to the right side.
2. Assisting in Parallel Parking
When the right wiper joint aligns with the curb line.
it’s the perfect time to start turning your steering wheel left.Once your car straightens, the distance between your car and the curb will be about 10 cm — just right.
3. Judging Side Distance
When driving on narrow roads:
If the right washer nozzle aligns with an object on the roadside.
it means you still have about 60 cm of clearance. On the left, you can use the A-pillar and the lane center line as reference — also a safe distance.
